What I liked

I’ve seen this several times before. I was eager to see if Stefan was going to pull off the magic trick of this play again. He did. It is unexpected, rapid fire hilarious from the moment the lights go up – self-deprecating, split-second swerving, yet relaxed, surprising, fourth wall breaking funny. Then there was an instant after I had been laughing for about thirty minutes, that was suddenly so raw that it took my breath away. I’ve watched how this show is constructed. It’s beautiful, and it’s clever, and I can’t see exactly how he does it. By the end we’re all silent, hanging on his words, and holding back (or not holding back) tears. The applause went on, and finally ended when we realized Stefan wasn’t taking another bow, but no one walked out. It was like we needed time to recover from what had just happened to Stefan and to all of us, to recover from the song he had just played on the strings of our nerves. It’s deep and it’s exposed and it’s funny and inexpressibly sweet. I think there’s one more chance to see it. I’ll be there.

What I didn't like

Nothing

My overall impression

Superbly written, beautifully performed. whipsmart, brilliantly funny, deeply moving and inexpressibly sweet.
