You have more chance of winning the lottery than seeing two solo shows in Los Angeles on the same day and being totally blown away by both of them. That happened to me today.
My One Woman Show was the second. My friend Deborah bought me a ticket and took me along, having already seen the show multiple times. And now I know exactly why.
It’s clever, it’s smart, the pacing is absolutely perfect, and the performance is nuanced and masterful. It strikes that incredibly difficult balance between tenderness and vulnerability and complete laugh-out-loud comedy!
Both shows I saw today were so good that I could genuinely have taken a five-minute break, gone back in, and watched them all over again.
Anyone who says Los Angeles isn’t a th...

Stefan Marks is never disappointing ~ I’ve seen several of his plays & always a treat!!! This is so well written by Stefan, acted & some music thrown in was so fun! The humor was great too, my husband & I were inthralled from beginning, middle to the very end!!! You won’t be disappointed with this one person show with the very talented Stefan keeping us glued to our seats. We loved the play the personal story behind it too. Stefan is a major talent & whenever I have a chance to see a play by the great Stefan Marks I do!! So talented& always a treat! This was no different, excellent & dramatic & fun!!! We enjoyed it so much, definitely not boring!! We loved this show, very much!! Worth it!! Yay ...

Stefan couches the core of his show within the journey of a persona trying to figure out what to say and how to say it. He zigzags between the show and the show-within-the-show -- or overlaps them -- so deftly, one is sometimes unsure which one he's doing. But what begins as a potentially glib dismissal of one-person show tropes morphs into a genuine, deeply personal expression of loss fused with threads of hope. And he pulls it off with the subtle elegance only available to someone with his decades of experience as a writer, director, and actor. Avant-garde but accessible, vulnerable without being overwrought, filled with laughs and none of them cheap, "My One-Woman Show (The Search for a Truthful Moment)" is so well-rounded, it may just ru...

Truly fantastic. Stefan Marks is a meticulously talented writer and actor. I really loved the unpeeling of the writer/performer’s journey in search of their truth. The show is endearingly funny and thoroughly engaging. The pacing is remarkable and it almost seems as though Stefan is disarming himself and the audience at the very same time so when the stark truth emerges, we’re all blown away together… Stefan shares his vulnerability in such a relatable way that it felt like the show hit all the beautiful and funny and sad places inside of me....

I am fangirling over My One Woman Show. When I walked into the theatre this evening, I knew that Stefan would make me laugh, but not THIS much. Stefan turned the convention of the one person show on its ear, and then he went and did it, he shared something so gut-wrenching, so powerful and personal. I sensed that Stefan and everyone else’s hearts were all broken into millions of pieces. ...

Stefan’s writing is always profound, affecting, and hilarious, and he’s equally skilled as an actor. So it’s always especially rewarding when he does both in one show. I’ve seen several of his shows over the years, and many of his gigs with The Four Postman, but this one feels the most…personal. You can feel it with every emotional turn. I hope this show has a long and lasting life in whatever guises lie ahead. There’s few that are as witty, and fewer that are as honest. ...

I was honestly riveted the entire show - eagerly waiting to hear what would be revealed next: a song, humor, a personal revelation, an unexpected turn. Stefan Marks has the ability to seamlessly pull us through the fourth wall, and make us not want to leave until he gives up all the goods. If you have a chance to see this master at his craft - go!...

What a show. Hilarious, honest, heart-wrenching and completely relatable. There is a reason that when I asked a Fringe reviewer, who had seen 70 Fringe shows, if there was one they'd point to as the absolute must-see, they pointed right to Stefan....
