What I liked is their use of projections- those podcast videos were so funny! I also enjoyed that they had a practical set with moving flats- while it could’ve been executed smoother- I think overall it was fun and incorporated a more hands on experience!
Every actor did amazing and I was able to feel their energy and connection!! It genuinely felt like as if l everyone’s relationships were true! The mother did a great job portraying an emotional abusive relationship and the constant switch to blaming!
Ps: the fly was hilarious- it’s out of anyone’s control but the fact that it went to the only light with a gobo and it looked like a giant monster rubbing his hands felt like just the funniest touch to the story and was warming us up for the rest!
What I didn't like
Now while they did use projections and a projector- my only note is the lamp still showing during blackouts! My note to improve that is to network the projector into QLab so there’s access to the shutter! It’s able to be connected through Ethernet- I was unsure looking up if they already have an Ethernet connection but if so it’s possible!!!
Also, I wish we were able to see the painting for her new ”Ecstasy” painting!
My overall impression
Overall, I loved the show! Right off the bat they started strong with actors preset in bed which was a hilarious entrance!!! The story from beginning to end has you rooting for the main character and for her success and I’m so glad the ending is a happy one!
